As you view the following maps please remember:

  • These maps belong to a set of ‘beginning maps’ prepared by a team of Multicultural Health Brokers, with support from M.A.P.S. Alberta Capital Region, during 2009 and 2013.
  • The identified population concentrations are based on Multicultural Health Brokers experience of working with refugee and immigrant families within these communities.
  • These maps are NOT meant to present a comprehensive picture of refugee and immigrant families within the “focal” communities.
Rather, the intent of these maps is to encourage more concerted efforts among practitioners and policy-makers within this region to raise awareness of and deepen knowledge about the families within these communities.
  • Information about the refugee communities featured is too small to have been captured through regular census processes. Yet, these are communities made up of families that have complex risks factors and are highly vulnerable.
